Wolf Spider

Wolf spiders are excellent hunters and camouflagers, who mostly live and hunt in solitude. They tend to burrow, but can also look for ways to take residence in your home, undetected. While they have been known to keep smaller bugs in check by eating them, they aren’t the type of thing you want in your home.

Characteristics

They vary widely in size, color and habitat. Small wolf spiders are less than 1 inch, whereas some species are as big as 2 inches.

Look for the unique eye pattern of two large prominent eyes looking forward, and four
smaller eyes in a row under the large eyes.

Harborage

During summer months they can be found hunting in many locations, such as: woods, open grasslands, and along streams or lakes. Wolf spiders are mainly active at night, feeding during early evening hours, but they also are found active during the day along streams and lakes.
