Characteristics
Two nodes, row of hairs on the underside of the head.
Moderately large (5-7 mm) reddish-brown ants.
Harborage
Nests appear as fat, bare circular patches averaging 12 feet in diameter. The ants are usually observed near their very characteristic mounds, which are broad and fat with an extensive area around them cleared of vegetation.
